What are your services/how can you help me?

Provide you with education about Medicare and Social Security enrollment and guidelines. Create individualized proposals based on your specific criteria, meet with you and go over your proposal and assist with plan selection and implementation. Then provide service throughout the year and evaluate your plan each year during the Annual Enrollment Period. (AEP)

What do you charge?

My services are free to you, fees are paid by the insurance companies in form of commission. It is a highly regulated industry, and all carriers pay a standardized amount, so agents are not incentivized by one company over the other. And these commissions are built into all rates, so you pay the same whether you use an agent/consultant or not.

What if I am still working?

If your are still actively working and on a group plan you can delay your Part B and/or Part A enrollment until you are ready to retire. Sometimes it makes sense to move to Medicare for you or your spouse when you are still working, but we can discuss that and look at your options to make that decision.

When should I start?

I suggest you start the process at least 3 months prior to either turning 65 and/or before retirement and leaving your group plan.

What is Medicare A, B, C and D?

Medicare A is hospital insurance, Part B is medical insurance, Part D Is prescription drug coverage and can be purchased as a stand alone plan or will be part of a Medicare Advantage plan. Part C is Medicare Advantage plans.

What is Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Advantage is also known as Part C and are privatized Medicare plans. They combine your Part A, B and D coverage, however you still must be enrolled in A and B. They pay for the same services Medicare allows but add additional services such as preventive dental, vision and hearing, and alternative medicine. They have networks of providers and can be Preferred Provider Options (PPO) or Health Maintenance Options (HMO).

What is Medicare Supplement/Medigap?

Standardized plans with letter names A-N. Benefits are the same from company to company but premiums vary. Medicare pays primary and then the Supplement plan pays secondary. There are no networks and you can see any doctor accepting Medicare and patients.

How do I get my prescriptions?

You will get your prescriptions either through a stand-alone prescription plan or as part of your Medicare Advantage Plan benefits.

What is the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?

Medicare is the benefit provided to enrollees over age 65 or individuals under 65 that have been disabled for 24 months. Cost depends on modified adjusted gross income. Medicaid is available to those with limited incomes for those over or under 65. There are many types and levels of benefits available depending on income.
