Look to receive your Medicare “Annual Notice of Change” (ANOC) letter from your current carrier by the end of the month.

Assess your healthcare needs and determine if you’ll require more from your plan.

Has your health changed?

Has your budget changed?

Are there prescription changes?

October 1

All carriers’ plans are released to the public so we can start evaluating the marketplace against your current plan(s) as needed for the “Annual Election Period” or AEP.

October 15

This is the first day you can enroll, during AEP, for a new plan to be effective January 1.

October 2-December 7

During AEP, look at options as needed and plan for the coming year.

December 7

The last day you can enroll on a new plan, during AEP, for the coming year.

January 1

All new plans are effective.

January 1-March 31

Medicare Open Enrollment Period. During this time, you can:

• Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another
• Disenroll from a Medicare Advantage plan and return to Traditional Medicare, with or without a Prescription drug plan.

Only one change can be made during this period and the change will be made the first of the month following the request for change.
